The festival features exclusively high-quality productions from Central and Eastern Europe. The programme features a selection of the best current feature films and documentaries as well as promising short films, all of which take part in the festival‘s film competitions.

An alternative to all the big festivals, the New Sound Festival is  Austria’s first non-profit and single-day festival with 3 stages and some indoor pub atmosphere. Participants: Arcane Roots, Dagobert, Faber, Joan as Police Woman & Benjamin Lazar Davis, Matt Gresham, The Sellout, White Miles.

On Stage: After being presented for the first time to the Scala in Milan in 1892, Catalani’s opera “La Wally” was rarely performed. His music is a bridge between Italian and German influences. A new production of the opera under the direction of Marc Piollet and Aron Stiehl starts this season at Volksoper.
