Virginia Woolf – Anonymous is a Woman

Virginia Woolf born on this date, Janury  25, 1882 is an English writer, considered one of the influential modernists of the 20th-century and a pioneer in the use of stream of consciousness as a narrative device, together with her contemporaries Marcel Proust and James Joyce .  She is widely celebrated after 1970’s feminist movements. Virginia Wolf is mostly know for her novels The Voyage Out (1915), Night and Day (1919), Jacob’s Room (1922), Mrs Dalloway (1925), To the Lighthouse (1927), Orlando (1928), The Waves (1931), The Years (1937), Between the Acts (1941).

For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.

Women have served all these centuries as looking-glasses possessing the magic and delicious power of reflecting the figure of man at twice its natural size.

Some people go to priests; others to poetry; I to my friends.

A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction.

If you do not tell the truth about yourself you cannot tell it about other people.

As a woman I have no country. As a woman my country is the whole world.

You cannot find peace by avoiding life.
